Medical Emergency Leads To Crash, Road Closure On Long Island, Police Say

Police on Long Island are investigating and asking for witnesses to a crash following a medical emergency suffered by the driver.

A 71-year-old man who suffered a medical emergency crashed his pickup truck on Long Island, closing a roadway for two hours.

The incident occurred in Quogue around 6:30 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 13 on the Montauk Highway near the intersection of Catbrier Road.

According to Quogue Chief of Police Christopher Isola, responding officers arrived and found a pickup truck in the woods with a 71-year-old man in the driver seat suffering an apparent medical emergency.

The man was treated and transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center via Westhampton War Memorial Ambulance. 

The roadway was then closed from 6:45 to 8 a.m. while the crash was investigated.
